Tips for Planning a Stress-Free Family Vacation

There’s still time to plan that family getaway and make the most of those last few weeks of summer vacation. Heading off on a family vacation can be a great way to spend some time with family members that you may not always be around the rest of the year, and make some fun memories together. If family vacations are high on the priority list for you this season, make the experience as stress-free as possible with the a little planning. Choosing the right destination and accommodations will help to make the trip that much more enjoyable.

Here are some tips for planning a stress-free family vacation:

Plan the Trip Together

Choosing a destination that appeals to everyone can be tricky, but you can encourage family members to pitch in with ideas and suggestions on where to go. Avoid arguments about where you are going to go and what you are going to do on that trip by encouraging everyone to brainstorm ideas and get together to make plans. Choose a family-friendly beach town, a place with lots of theme parks and attractions, or head to a quiet resort for some rest and relaxation.

Consider a Vacation Rental

Renting a vacation home or condo for a week can be a great way to save money on that family vacation and also enjoy a more home-away-from-home experience. You can find  some great deals on vacation rentals and plan on preparing meals and taking care of transportation on your own. Staying in a vacation rental property can make it easier to run things on your own schedule and make the most of your trip. It can also help you stay within that tight travel budget for long-term stays.

Be Realistic with Budgeting

Setting a budget that’s too small can make it difficult to enjoy a stress-free trip. Be realistic about how much that trip is going to cost and make sure you’re accommodating for extra expenses. Do some research to find out what the costs of everything will be, and try and pre-pay for attraction tickets and other extras so you don’t have to stress about sold out tickets or buying things at the last minute.
