Would You Dare To Visit The Scariest Place On Earth?

Image
This train has over 1,200 bullet holes in it from its crossing during the Korean War Visiting the scariest place on Earth Bill Clinton described the DMZ as the ‘ scariest place on earth. ’ With a reputation like that, and with Kim Jong Un firing missiles towards Japan just days before our arrival, how could I possibly resist? A visit to Seoul would simply be incomplete without a visit to the Demilitarized Zone, a 4km wide, 240km long buffer slicing the Korean peninsula in half. Although physically connected, South Korea may as well be an island considering its hostile and inpenetrable neighbour. Our Tour We booked our tour through VIP Travel, paying 65,000 each (around £50). Tours vary immensely in terms of price so feel free to shop around for the best deal or DIY your trip. Why You Need to Go to Easter Island Now, in 16 Photos

Image
Formed 3 million years ago by an underwater volcanic eruption, the island of Rapa Nui is a mere 63-square-mile triangular speck deep in the South Pacific—2,237 miles from the coast of its home country, Chile. Visiting the island, made famous by its mysterious statues known as moai—and commonly known by its colonial name Easter Island (after Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen landed on Easter Sunday in 1722)—takes some well-rewarded effort. Nothing prepares you for a meeting in person with those statues; their weirdness and size are only emphasized by a barren landscape overrun with wild horses. The ghosts of history and the island’s remoteness create an almost spiritual vibe. There’s more, though: beautiful beaches, epic surfing, world-class diving, and a Rapanui people determined to preserve their Polynesian heritage. It’s well worth the long haul. Ahu Tongariki Ahu Tongariki, also known as the Fifteen, is a line of moai on a 720-foot-long ceremonial platform called an ahu. This...

Image
According to new numbers by travel website Kayak, money is no object for Canadians as they eye destinations in Europe, Southeast Asia, Central America, South America and the U.S. for their summer travels – even if airfare prices continue to climb. “Based on Kayak’s data, Canadians seem to be torn between choosing more affordable destinations or travelling to cities that typically have a reputation for being a bit pricier, like Barcelona, Amsterdam and New York,” David Solomito, vice president of North America marketing for Kayak, says. “But with three out of the top-five destinations showing a decrease in airfare this year compared to last year, it’s evident that Canadians are, in fact, looking for a deal this summer.” So what cities are piquing the interest of Canadians? Cheap Overseas Airfare: Tips for Making Travel Affordable

Image
People make a lot of excuses why they don’t travel internationally, but no excuse seems to carry more psychological weight or is as just plain wrong as the notion that flying overseas is incredibly expensive. But that notion is simply false. With the right mindset and a handful of tips you can grab flights to foreign countries, even flights to foreign countries located far, far away at huge savings. Tip 1: Stop Reading About Budget Travel With a few notable exceptions (including this article) most of the inked spilled on budget travel revolves around ways you can fly to Paris for two days or how you can get half-off cruises to Costa Rica and overly regimented 7-day tours through mainland China. In other words, most of the writing out there dealing with budget travelling focuses on how to take binge trips. Yet, binge trips are not the sort of travel experiences you should aim for. Also, beware that too much information, even too much good information, can confuse you and tha...
